Accounting/Adminstrative Assistant-ICR

The International Christian Response (ICR), an international nonprofit organization with an office in Lynden, Washington, is seeking an Accounting/Administrative Assistant. For over 50 years, ICR has provided spiritual and material assistance to Christians who live in countries hostile to the gospel, enabling them to proclaim the truth, plant churches and persevere. This position reports to the US Director. Primary Role – Bookkeeping/Accounting • Deposit checks • Accounts Receivable (Donations) / Accounts Payable • Bank, credit card and donation reconciliations • Produce monthly profit and loss and balance statement report; Send Quarterly reports to Board • Set up funds to be wired • Grant applications and reporting • Assist CPA with Annual Audit Secondary Role – Administration • Maintain and manage contact database (CRM) • Oversee donor communications, including donor e-letter, physical mailers and phone/email communications • Distribute mail and purchase office supplies • Provide assistance to staff coordinating travel and volunteers • Assistance with event coordination   Relationships: Internal –Interact regularly with US and West Coast Director to provide assistance in matters of financial and administrative operations. Provide financial and administrative support to board, offsite employees, contractors and vendors. External – Maintain contact with donors. Required Skills/Knowledge • Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or business administration, or equivalent experience • A minimum of three years of work experience managing the accounting/bookkeeping functions for a non-profit organization, or equivalent experience • Strong technology skills; proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Excel and CRM programs • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written • Must be detail-oriented and strive for accuracy • Ability to interact professionally and personably with staff, donors, volunteers and other stakeholders Learn more about this organization and the work they are doing around the globe at christianresponse.org. Physical Requirements/Work Environment Office environment; must be able to sit for long periods of time and may be exposed to extended stretches of time viewing a monitor. Physical abilities required include bending at waist and reaching above the shoulder to maintain files, speaking clearly and listening actively, dexterity of hands/fingers to operate computer keyboard and enter data. Compensation and Benefits This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. Competitive compensation, sick leave, 10 paid holidays and extensive time off are offered (up to 2 weeks of vacation that gradually increases to a maximum of 4 weeks at year 5).
