Construction Controller

Axiom Construction and Consulting, a Lynden, Washington based architectural sheet-metal contractor and professional manager of construction services, is seeking a Controller for the Northwest Washington area (offices are located in Everett and Lynden). Axiom is an established, successful, and growing company. This position reports directly to the CFO and is a member of the senior management team. The Controller has authority, autonomy, and nearly continuous growth opportunities. Key Responsibilities: • Ensure the smooth operation of the company’s accounting, finance and analysis team and efficiently meet all established business and team metrics, including established KPIs • Supervise the Accounting and Administrative team; interview, hire and train; plan, assign and direct work; appraise performance; reward or counsel performance • Develop corporate economic strategies, objectives and polices • Forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings • Review budget proposals • Produce monthly reports, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Statement of Cash Flows • Review and verify accuracy of all quarterly reporting, including Labor and Industries, Employment Security, Department of Revenue and local filings. • Supervise all year-end closing and review all taxes, W2s, W3s and certified payroll • Manage 401K safe harbor profit sharing program and ensure accuracy of records and calculations • Supervise contract insurance and licensing • Develop and maintain relationships with company’s banks and other financial institutions • Serve as liaison to Construction Industry Training Council (CITC) Essential Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred • Five (5) or more years of increasingly responsible professional work experience focused on financial planning and analysis • Construction industry experience preferred • Management/supervisory experience required • Thorough understanding of accounting principles (GAAP), systems and methods • Proficiency with MS Office applications and Accounting Software; Viewpoint knowledge a Plus • Proven initiative and follow-through • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to effectively present information to a wide variety of audiences • Strong analytical and reasoning skills The Benefits: Compensation is highly competitive and depends upon your experience.
