Hi, I'm Kyle.
I joined Larson Gross fresh out of school in 2014. As is typical for a Bellingham native, I went to Western Washington University. Atypically for someone who is a CPA living in Bellingham, I went to school for economics and math, am a loyal Oregon Ducks football fan and would prefer that PNW winters would shorten up just a bit.
My focuses are in the firm’s consulting and tax practices. Within our tax practice, I focus heavily on our agribusiness & food processing niche and supplement this time with work in our construction niche group. I am particularly focused on tax planning and the unique opportunities for planning, tax incentives and entity structuring that come along with the agricultural industry. Whether it’s raspberries, blueberries, hops, apples, tree fruit of all kinds, dairies, or anything else you’re growing and producing — we can craft a long-term plan and strategy to fit your unique sub-industry and situation.
What I love about my role is the level of listening it requires. Especially to growers and producers to become deeply acquainted with their industries. I am always impressed by the wealth of knowledge our clients have about their industry, technology within their industry and overall trends. My genuine curiosity helps me become a better business advisor and long-term partner.
While I spend a considerable amount of time focused on tax, my primary focus is leading our firm’s ownership succession and transition practice area. This is where the fun happens! By using an owner’s largest financial asset – their business — I help them fulfill their personal goals throughout the transaction or succession process. Whether they want to maximize value and buy a house where the winters are a bit more cheery; have their children take over and continue on a family legacy; become an employee owned company (aka, ESOP); or acquire another business to become more competitive in the market – we can help create a strategic plan to move your goals forward.
When I’m not helping my clients succeed, I keep busy traveling up and down the west coast with my beautiful wife and three energetic daughters. I love spending time with my family, running long distances, swimming in open water and last but not least, breweries.
